The peat and water come from the nature reserve Großes Torfmoor, a large moor near Lübbecke and Minden in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. Some areas of the reserve have been and continue to be undergoing renaturation. Large quantities of drying and disintegrating peat are being transferred to wetter areas where it can remain intact, helping to restore and maintain a healthy moorland ecosystem. I was permitted to collect peat and showcase it at the Weltkunstzimmer. After the exhibition, I returned the peat to the moor and embedded it in its new locat
